The purpose of this 'Tracks Of The Weeks' section has always been to promote contemporary labels, musicians and their productions. But It has also always been a space to share culture and to bring to your ears discoveries that, I hope, you could be interessed with!
That's why I decided once more to stay in the very traditional side of Brazil.
This country keeps on impressing me every day with his deep and infinite culture melting Indian, European and African influences!
So here is a selection of a few tracks of traditionnal music recorded live in the streets by the contemporary Mario de Andrade, Alfredo Bello!
I hope that you'll enjoy this little piece of Brazilian cultural patrimony!

The brazilian celebration called 'Festa de São Benedito em Aparecida-SP' happens since more than a 100 years and the label 'Mundo Melhor', lead by Alfredo Bello, has been recording it for eleven years!
This record showcases Congado's groups that come to Aparecida to praise Sao Benedito.
'Guardas' from Minas Gerais and São Paulo in greater numbers, from 2002 groups from Espírito Santo's state and began to come in 2009 the 'Ternos' from Catalão do Goiás, a small city and municipality located in the south of the state of Goiás.
With this party we begin to learn about the richness of the Congado from Minas Gerais, São Paulo and Espírito Santo. This is the biggest Congado celebration of Brazil, nearly 100 groups and thousands of pilgrims come each year.
The party starts 9 days before with the novena and has its apex in the last 3 days, always the weekend after Easter. On Saturday the 'Guardas' arrives and stay until Monday, the big day, which begins at 4am with the dawn. This is the highlight of the festival for many Congadeiros and pilgrims. The celebration continues until the end of the day with the final procession. During those days are recited masses with the participation of the groups. The groups also raise the mast, make processions, visit to the promesseiros (those who escort the procession) and devotees and dance in and around São Benedito's church, a communion among all.

"The purpose of this record is to be a memory of the party for those who already know and for those who don't know it yet but who might be interested! Viva São Benedito, who has much to teach us in the way of a better world!" Alfredo Bello
